10 Jan 2019 by David steel

The second of three Scottish Athletics Indoor League fixtures took place at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow last Saturday. The DTFC athletes built on the results of a very encouraging first fixture in December and a number of their teams are in a good position to qualify for the final.

The U11 girls saw A string wins for Eva Gasowska in the 600m and a solid 5th place for Milly McKenzie in the 60m. In the B string Isla Scott and Katie Curran produced solid runs in their respective races. The U11 boys kept up their good form with Charlie Potter finishing 2nd in the 60m and 5th in the standing jump to get the points. With the top 3 teams in each section to qualify the girls A string sit 6th and the boys A string 3rd.

In the U13 category both girls teams are nicely placed with the A string 4th and B string 7th. For the A string there was a win for Shayna Asamoah in the 200m and in the B string Ellie Candlish won her high jump. The boys U13 A string are also sitting well in 2nd spot with Callum Newton winning the 60m hurdles and Oliver Morrison the high jump.

The U15 girls A string are strongly placed in 2nd spot after Rebecca Grieve, Mya McMahon and Maia Helm booked top 3 finishes in their respective races with Maia Helm and Mya McMahon also claiming 2nd places in the high jump and long jump respectively. The B string are far from out of the frame in 7th place after solid performances across the board. The boys U15 team also had a good day finishing in 6th place with Rory Voss their main points contributor with 3rd place in the 400m and 2nd place in the long jump.

The U17 men are also handily placed with their team in 7th place and the U17 women A string are sitting in 5th spot after solid team performances with the highlights Daisy Cumming’s win in the 800m and Isla Steel’s 2nd place in the 60m hurdles.

The U20 women’s team also had a very successful day finishing 6th which was quite an achievement considering Ellen Ranklin was the only Dunfermline athlete in the team.

It all adds up to an exciting last fixture at the end of the month in the hope that the teams can continue their excellent form to gain places in the final in March.

Match 3 is on Sunday 27 Jan 2pm at Emirates – Team availability requests have been sent out this evening via Teamapp. Please RSVP promptly to ensure consideration for selection.
