OFFICIALS COURSES - WE NEED YOU !!

11 Dec 2018 by David steel

Further to the club holding assistant officials course recently at Pitreavie on which we had a great turnout of 16 parents, the club would would like to encourage people to go onto some upcoming LEVEL 1 officials courses. This includes those that attended the assistants course and those that did not attend.

After having attended all the recent League AGM’s , It is increasingly becoming a requirement for different leagues for the club to bring with them level 1 officials in order for the league to function. The club and ultimately the children will be deducted points if we do not supply graded officials. The leagues will be enforcing this rigorously this year.

There are Level One officials in the specific disciplines and there are courses coming up in the emirates in Jan / Feb for those – details below.

LEVEL 1 TIMEKEEPER – SUN 26 JAN (at u17 / senior champs) , duration 4 hours.

LEVEL 1 FIELD OFFICIAL – SAT 2 FEB (U13 / U20 champs) , duration 5.5 hours (10.30-4pm)

LEVEL 1 TRACK OFFICIAL – SUN 10 FEB (at u12 superteams) , duration 4.5 hrs

LEVEL 1 PHOTO FINISH OFFICIAL – SAT 16 FEB (u13/15/17 combined events) duration 4.5 hrs (10.30-3pm)

You do NOT have to have attended an assistant officials course to do a Level One qualification.

The cost for each course is £30 but will be paid by the club .

The club will require a pool of LEVEL 1 officials we can call upon in Leagues – and I would appreciate if folk can give a wee bit thought if you are interested or can possibly go on one of the courses to doing this. (one advantage of these courses are that they are inside – much warmer ! and in the practical setting of helping at the champs also) . If we can get a spread of folk through the disciplines would be ideal.

If you think you can help – please drop me an email on presidentdtfc@gmail.com and we will book you onto whichever course you fancy.

For those that missed the assistants course – it very much would be to the clubs advantage and a big time saving for the individuals if they went on straight to do a LEVEL 1 course rather than have us find an assistants course to go on (you don’t need to qualify as an assistant first) . So if you couldn’t manage and still want to get qualified please get back to me with the course you want to go on.

Please consider this opportunity to help the club and ultimately your own athlete. You will likely be at the events supporting your child anyway and it will be a great help to the club .

Ultimately if we do not train our own officials, the club and your children will suffer. This is not a big commitment for parents to support the club and its athletes.
