The second East of Scotland Cross country League match at Broxburn attracted a good turnout from DTFC athletes over a tough course in cold and wet conditions.
Ruby Candlish was the only DTFC entrant in the 1.4km U11 girls race but raced to a creditable 32nd place in 6.36mins. The U11 boys of Oscar Simmons and Charlie Potter finished comfortably in the middle of the pack with times of 6.22mins and 6.51mins respectively.
There were five DTFC U13 boys in the 2.7km race. Callum Newton clocked 11.08mins finishing in 25th place out of 91 entrants. Ryan Shanley was 42nd in 11.35mins and David Cuthbert 54th in 11.49mins. The other U13 boys were Logan Rand who finished 68th with a time of 12.23mins and Mark Harley in 84th place in a time of 13.11mins.
The U13 girls were led home by Megan Kyle in 34th place out of 62 runners in a time of 12.34mins. Ellie Candlish posted 13.48mins in 48th place and Megan Turnbull 14.31mins in 55th spot.
The U17 women raced over 4.1km where the DTFC duo of Katie Lancaster and Minnie Brocklesby clocked 18.01mins and 19.30mins respectively finishing comfortably in the middle of the pack.
There was only one representative for DTFC in the U15 boys race over 4.1km was Sam Simmons who finished 50th with a time of 18.36mins and in the U17 men’s race over 5.4km Elliot Wilkins finished 32nd with a time of 24.0mins.
The lack of numbers in the first league match last month cost the club in the overall league positions with only the U13 boys and U17 woman’s teams being placed mid table. The last match takes place at Livingston in January and it is hoped the club can make a push to secure a good position in the final league table.
